The VBI CLF is well-equipped with various robots and laboratory automation to enable high-throughput processing of samples. These services include the following:

Colony Picking/Arraying-Libraries provided (either transformed into E. coli or yeast) to the VBI CLF. The libraries can be of cDNA, genomic or BAC clones. Using a Genetix QPixII robot, the VBI CLF will pick colonies into 96-well plates that can then either be cultured or stored as glycerol stocks. We are also able to array colonies onto nylon filters for library screening purposes.

Liquid Handling - The VBI CLF has a Packard Multprobe liquid handling robot available to perform routine transfers into 96- or 364-well plates.

Automated Plasmid Minipreps-Using a Biomek FX robot, the VBI CLF provides high-throughput plasmid minipreps in 96-well format. Following DNA extraction, samples can be quantitated using our picogreen 96-well assay.
